Lanvin for H&M

This is the most anticipated collaboration since, well forever (never could have dreamed this one up!), and is only 3 days away (23 November). A quote i found on line by Alber Elbaz, the artistic director of Lanvin explains the rationale behind the surprise move... “H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public. This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world.” I couldn't agree more. completely clever. nothing pretentious and snobby required. Just love of fashion. and why not?

my new Dries Van Noten fix

i am so excited that i have finally got my oversized alpaca / wool cardigan and the perfect tan bag ever, courtesy of DVN AW 10/11. one of the most inspiring looks of that season, dries mixed un-paralleled luxury with sporty/casual. the perfect juxtaposition injecting just the right amount of fabulous in my daywear. i pray its not a long hot summer as i want to wear him everyday. literally.

patouf SS11

this sweet little capsule adorning plenty of romance is Patouf by Anna Angseryd. Only a few years young, the swedish label's SS 11 collection which was recently showed in Paris (Marais), is by far their strongest yet. Echoing the virgin suicides sweet seduction whilst playing homage to classic french femininity, the inspiration is also captured on the beautiful video lookbook where a vintage colour palette including gold, peach, nude and ink is nothing but captivating.... any wonder they received 'rookie of the year' by the swedish fashion council in '09. one to watch. seriously. can we cope? pictures are via Prendas Publicas and the endearing first photo is taken by Liliana Camarillo - a photographer and photo editor of Prendas Publicas.

Bassike lookbook AW11

my first look at the upcoming bassike range for next winter, and i am excited to see the girls are feeding my endless appetite for their constantly evolving range. the AW 10/11 collection has injected an un-compromised take on uncomplicated fashion basics. Its easy dressing is completely in tune with all that the love child between the sydney/new york 'IT' girl would want. simple and understated cool. there is a strong influence noted from some of my all time favourite designers including Dries Van Noten (the slouchy military pant with tapered ankle detailing), Isabel Marant (the tweed blazer with statement shoulders), Alexander Wang (the new 'classic' track pant) and Proenza (printed skinny leg jean)... which i am not complaining about..

malababa

loving the malababa bag our favourite cherry blossom gal has snapped up. it is the perfect shade burgundy in the must have shape of the season, the satchel, all with a classic celine touch. the hunt is over. big love.

cult classic colour block

i stumbled across an old marie claire editorial (circa 2009) and found a persuasive take on our oldest love affair which is colour blocking. this particular look however touches close to home as it has ingenious heritage and provides and uncompromising commitment to the bold and the amazing. Dries Van Noten and Marni.. can this combination of brilliance excite you anymore? It casts plenty of artful direction yet retains authenticity, and simplicity... a naturally accomplishment. some others can just try. i heart you DVN and Marni. Forever. Ps.. i have these sunnies... and these pants! i should be so lucky. xx

bright blue skies, the afternoon sunshine rays, looking this great... yes please.

Pony Rider

i have taken to a new obsession with this label, literally. Their nostalgic prints feel well travelled, timeless yet retain a playful, free spirited feel. my eyes are drawn to the pony rider range, now sprawling across my home, and each time they connect with the images, i am transported somehow, to a place filled with love and simplicity. and the designer, Kelly Searl, is just a divine breed of woman. my favourite is the bambi decal, oh my, can he be any cuter? he is currently in my kitchen enjoying the smell of fresh rosemary and thyme leaves as we speak! www.ponyrider.com.au
